Context and strategic goals

The learn-out project is financed within the Interreg Program VI-A Italia-Austria 2021-2027 and it’s inserted in Priorità 3 – Turismo sostenibile e culturale. The initiative is finalized to strenghten the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation (RSO4.6). The approach that was adopted promotes education through natural and cultural heritage, with actions of sensibilisations, formation and experiments with new models of fruiction.

General goals

The project aims at:

  • Creating a transborder net among bodies in charge of small cultural and natural heritages
  • Developing a throughout turistic offer based on innovative educational models
  • Improve the local operator’s competences through exchange of good practices and study visits
  • Valutate the Learn-out model through pilot actions in the lands involved.

Project structure

The projectual activity develops through the following intervention lines:

Strenghtening of the heritage managing

Actions:

  • Exchange of experiences and study visits among bodies in charge and experts of the field
  • Creation of operative devices to better the local governance
  • Sharing of efficient managing methods for the valorisation of the heritage.

Developing of an innovative model of education towards heritage

Actions:

  • Implement of accessible and interactive didactics methods
  • Creation of educational ways for several age groups
  • Utilization of digital devices and innovative technologies to better the visiting experience.

Definition of a sustainable tourism offer

Actions:

  • Elabortion of the Learn-Out model based on the concept of “learning through visiting”
  • Promotion of a responsile toursim within the neo-ecology
  • Active involvement of local communities for heritage management

Pilot actions and dissemination devices

To validate the efficency of the adopted methods, the project includes the realization of four Pilot Actions, one for each partner involved. The impact of the activities will be measured through indicators of efficiency and sustainability.

Digital innovation

A distinctive element of the project is the development of an hybrid edugame (digital and on-site) which will allow visitors to explore cultural and natural heritage in an interactive way, connecting education, tourism and crossborder programming.

Finished and in-program activities

Fifth transnational meeting – Sarmede (June 30th – July 1st 2025)

The 5th Transnational Meeting of the LEARN-OUT project – Educating through natural and cultural heritage brought together Italian and Austrian partners in the heart of the Alta Marca Trevigiana for two intensive days of exchange and joint planning.
The work focused on the main operational areas:

  • WP1 – Coordination and Management
  • WP4 – The LEARN-OUT Model for a sustainable educational tourism offer
  • WP5 – Project Communication and Final Manual

The first day concluded with a convivial moment at Agriturismo Le Vignole, a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties among the partners and to highlight the excellence of the host territory.
On the second day, the meeting moved to Sarmede, at the Štěpán Zavřel Foundation – International Exhibition of Illustration for Children, a symbolic place for education in imagination and beauty. Thanks to the institutional welcome by President Uberto Di Remigio and the guided tour led by Dr. Ketty Gallon, participants had the chance to discover up close a cultural heritage of great value, which serves as a source of inspiration for the development of the project’s educational content.
The day continued with participatory working sessions, including brainstorming, discussion on educational models, and planning of materials, all aimed at building a shared, effective, and accessible educational path.

Group interviews- Vittorio Veneto (March 21st 2025)

Friday, March 21st GAL Alta Marca Trevigiana organized the last of the two group interviews accounted within the Learn-out project’s WP4, dedicated to listening directly to the protagonists of didactic and educational tourism. The information that was collected, along that of WP2 (Parks’ governance) and WP3 (Parks’ educational potential) will contribute to the creation of the Learn-out model: an operative device towards those who manage natural and cultural heritages and wants to develop new touristic proposals in the educational field.

Group interviews- Vittorio Veneto (March 12th 2025)

The first of the two group interviews connected to WP4 of the Learn-out project was realized, organized by GAL Alta Marca Trevigiana along with SHERPA srl, in which park managers, educators and teachers, touristic operators and managers of receptive activities participated. The goal? To further align thematic-didactic parks in Alta Marca Trevigiana and others parks involved in the project’s offers to visitors and tourists’ requests, collecting ideas and good practices. The next and last date is on Friday, March 21st.

Fourth transnational meeting– Trevigian district (March 10-11th 2025)

Two intense days of comparisons and decisions to translate the project towards its more operative phase. Next date in June in Pieve di Soligo, focusing on pilot projects and the edugame, the innovative device to promote our parks.

Study visit- Trevigian district and Alta Marca Trevigiana (November 11-13th 2024)

Three days of study visists to analyze the touristic and educational potential of some sites of excellence of the land:
 Ecomuseo Case Piavon
 Parco de La Storga
 Oasi Cervara (Parco Naturale Regionale del Fiume Sile)
 Parco Grotte del Caglieron

The activity’s mean is to define operative devices to better the management, the fruition and the education through heritage.

Third international meeting- Maniago (PN) (October 16-18th 2024)

Focus: ecomuseum’s management models and valorization of naturalistic wealthy areas.
Activities: Workshop, exchange of experiences and in-depth analysis of the best educational tourism’s practices.

Study visit and project’s meeting- Ginzling, Austria (July 17-19th 2024)

Location: Zitteral Alps’ Natural Park
Activities:

  • Heritage’s sustainable management models’ analysis
  • Thematic excursions and immersive experiences
  • Comparison with local stakeholders to define fruition’s innovative strategies.

Kick-off meeting – Villa Brandolini (March 21st-22nd 2024)

Goal: define the guidelines for the project’s implementation and begin the first crossborder cooperation actions.

Two days of workshop and activities with all the partners to analyze, study, consider new ideas and reach real solutions. Along with the Trevigian district and prestigious europian and national partners such as the Associazione Lis Aganis Ecomuseo delle Dolomiti Friulane APS and the University of Innsbruck (Faculty of Agencial economy –research centre for tourism and free time) to which is associated the Zitteral Alps Natural Park of high mountain, GAL Alta Marca worked to create a crossborder net among managing bodies of these small natural and cultural heritages through a common touristic offer focused on the educational aspect of visiting. About the project’s areas, other than the Zitteral Alps Natural Park, in quality of new educational touristic offer experimentation sites, the system Parchi Didattici dell’Alta Marca Trevigiana, Parco dello Storga and the ecomuseum Lis Aganis will be involved, although the project will xtend partecipation to other local realities in a perspective of sharing experiences and net enlargement.

The Interreg Italia-Austria program supports crossborder cooperation projects between the two Nations, promoting sustainable development and land integration. Learn-out is inserted in this strategy within 3rd priority- cultural and sustainable tourism.
